Ministry of Education Property Management Handbook - Superseded
The property handbook has now been superseded, however the following applied between 2004 April – 2011, Sourced from the Handbook;
“The Handbook is a one-stop shop and should be used as the primary source of information for managing school property. The only important information it does not include is that which changes from time to time (such as funding rates or rules and procedures for dealing with temporary situations) and documents that are too large to include. The Handbook includes references for finding this type of information.”
Please refer to Sections 5 (Project Management) & Section 6.10 (Information Communication Technology).

“All new installations must conform to the new online property management toolbox.”
The Ministry of Education has recently released the “Infrastructure and Communications Cabling (ICT) Policy and Standards”. As required by the Ministry Design Standards, these standards are a Ministry requirement to implement, and require the engagement of certified cabling companies from the lists of Ministry of Education approved installers. This makes Project Managers for schools more accountable for the implementation of these in school building projects.
